News Director incl. Play-by-Play Broadcaster Announcer

Gather information and cover breaking news, events and local meetings. Prepare news stories for broadcast and postings on the web. Responsible for generating content for newscasts weekly and conducting public affairs interviews.

This position has the added bonus of joining our sports play-by-play and color commentary team if desired, covering games through radio and video stream coverage throughout the area.

As a member of our small, locally owned radio station staff you will have the opportunity to be involved in any part of the duties you would like to (Live on-air, voice tracking, public events, show host, podcasting, commercial production, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Content generation for web, on-air, and social media.
• Generate news leads and tips to develop stories.
• Ensure the accuracy of news information
• Gather and verify factual information through interview, observation, and research
• Edit news material, prepare and write stories
• Other operations as needed, including: On-air hosting of live shows and remote broadcasts, sports radio and video play-by-play and color commentary, sports broadcast video equipment setup and camera operation, on-air staff rotation of severe weather/on-call coverage duty
• Utilize video and modern social media strategies to enhance news coverage

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• A strong command of reading and writing the English language
• Knowledge of broadcast and web-based journalism principals and techniques is a plus, but not required
• Knowledge of radio production process is a plus, but not required
