WE LOVE OUR WORK.:

Announces information on races by performing the following duties.

  • Announces program and substitutions or other changes to patrons.
  • Informs patrons of coming events or emergency calls.
  • Serve as a handicapper on our award-winning television show “Racing Alive”.
  • Serve as backup to the Director of Publicity/Marketing, write stories, engage in public, etc.
  • Responsible for making program comments and morning line.
  • Speaks extemporaneously to the audience on items of interest such as background and past record of horses.
  • Ensure interactions with internal and external guests follow the guidelines of the customer service program.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to speak quickly and clearly over a microphone to announce the races. Must be able to speak effectively in public groups and one-on-one.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must qualify for the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission license.
