Company Overview
The Oakland Ballers are seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to join us as our On-field Host. As this is our first season, this role is critical to making visitors feel like they are part of the Ballers community and, by extension, the greater Oakland community. The On-field Host plays a crucial role in engaging and entertaining fans throughout each home game, creating memories, providing exceptional entertainment, and enhancing the overall game day experience for our fans. This position is more than the average event emcee. You will become the face of our organization and the driving force behind the fan experience.

Position Description and Expectations
  • Game Day Hosting: Serve as the face of the organization by hosting various on-field activities and promotions during home games, including between-innings entertainment, contests, and fan interactions.
  • Crowd Engagement: Energize the crowd and create a lively atmosphere by leading cheers, rallying support for the team, and encouraging fan participation in on-field activities.
  • Announcements: Make announcements over the stadium PA system regarding upcoming promotions, sponsor messages, and special events to keep fans informed and engaged.
  • Interviews: Conduct on-field interviews with fans, players, coaches, and special guests to provide entertainment and insights during breaks in the game or post-game.
  • Promotions and Giveaways: Assist in the distribution of promotional items and giveaways to fans during designated times throughout the game.
  • Work jointly with the Game Production Team to help develop content and activities.
  • Assist with In-Game Operations: Collaborate with the game day operations team to ensure smooth execution of on-field activities, including coordinating with mascots, dancers, and other entertainment groups.
  • Fan Interaction: Interact with fans in a friendly and approachable manner, responding to inquiries, posing for photos, and creating memorable experiences for attendees of all ages.
  • Oakland Vibe: must be able to channel and celebrate an authentic Oakland vibe and experience.
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality with a passion for entertaining and engaging audiences.
  • Exceptional Improvisational skills and understanding of comedic timing.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to captivate and entertain large crowds.
  • Ability to showcase humor, cleverness, and quick-thinking a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, often under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude, with a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for fans.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season.
  • Ability to take direction from Show Caller and Show Producer.
  • Willingness to execute out-of-the box storylines and skits without push back or fear of embarrassment.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: live event hosting, live performances, radio hosting, stand-up comedy improv, film/tv/theater experience.
  • Understanding of Oakland’s cultural history- local resident preferred
