Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill 1-4 part-time (maximum of 20 hour per week) MarComm Events Assistant positions for the College of Liberal Arts.
Position Duties
  • Serving as host announcer for the Music a la Carte concert series, handing out programs and introducing the performers.
  • Using personal or university vehicle, bicycle or public transportation to deliver/distribute or post marketing materials in designated places on campus and throughout the community.
  • Providing on-site or remote support at events such as performances, lectures, receptions such as carrying materials to an event, assisting with set up and tear down, readying green rooms, selling tickets or merchandise, distributing programs, preparing nametags, helping to decorate, placing directional signs, greeting attendees, ushering, screening for tickets or vaccination status, etc.
  • Maintaining event postings in the CLA case at the MU.
  • Providing general errand running and event support to Events Manager and Mar-Comm Team, such as dropping off and picking up projects from OSU printing, filing, organizing, distributing information, recycling, folding programs, other duties as required.
  • With appropriate training, assisting with running remote events for the College of Liberal Arts on Zoom, YouTube, or Facebook Live platforms.
  • Staffing CLA displays for some special events.
  • Provide a student voice for CLA Event social media.
  • May handle money or debit/credit cards if assisting with merchandise or ticket sales.

  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking/interacting with the public.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
  • This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard 125-155-0200) as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Interest in arts administration, being an event coordinator, or experience working public events preferred.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity is preferred.
